Drawing Exercise

Drawing exercise

I followed a drawing exercise, step by step to practice my drawing techniques. I started by doing light and heavy outlines and then different pencil strokes like hatching, cross hatching, stipping, back and forth strokes and scrumbling. Then i started on a shading guide. I used the cross hatching when shading to get the best effect. After, I drawn a blending guide and used the stipping technique while blending each one together with my finger. Then i started to use these skills to create depth using a cube 3D drawing and making it stand out of the page. I did this by shading each face of the cube a different strength, the lighter shading is where the point of lighting would come from and the darker areas are used to create a kind of shadow on the cube. Afterwards, I tried to create a 3D sphere which was difficult as you didn't have any lines to show any other side of the sphere. I started by drawing a circle using a pencil and then deciding where the point of light would come from. Then I shaded the sphere by using a crescent moon shape to get the effect that it was round. After that I shaded underneath the sphere using the back and forth technique and my result is a result I can be proud of.
